On September 9 SHFE was honored to host Mr. Robert A. Mundell, 1999 Nobel Laureate in Economics, during his visit to Shanghai and the largest futures exchange of China.

Mr. Jiang Yang, chief executive officer of SHFE, talked to Mr. Mundell about the developments of China’s futures markets and the major progress SHFE has made on the study and launching preparation of structured financial derivative products.

Enjoying his first visit ever to a China’s futures marketplace, Mr. Mundell made favorable comments on SHFE’s performance and said that China’s futures markets would have a good future.

On the afternoon, Mr. Mundell addressed to a 200-large audience on the issues related to global monetary integration and Shanghai’s development into an international financial city.
