SHFE Made Debut in FIA IDX 2023

Updated on Jul 05,2023

From June 19 to June 21, the 2023 International Derivatives Expo (IDX 2023) hosted by Futures Industry Association (FIA) was successfully held in London, UK. For the first time, Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) participated in FIA IDX 2023 as an exhibitor, an international event for the derivatives industry, which attracted the attention of various participants.

IDX 2023 brought together more than 1,000 representatives from global futures exchanges and clearing houses, futures brokers, technology service providers and regulators, such as SHFE, DCE, HKEx, CME, ICE, Eurex, and B3. The theme of the conference focused on changes in the global derivatives market, future development trends, cross-border regulation, globalization and other topics.

In recent years, a series of opening up measures were introduced in China’s futures market. In September, 2022, SHFE and Shanghai International Energy Exchange (INE, a subsidiary and international platform of SHFE) allowed Qualified Foreign Investors to participate in the trading of 16 futures and options products listed on SHFE and INE, which further expanded the scope of products accessible to overseas investors. To make full use of this opportunity to introduce China’s futures market, SHFE organized the “Sponsored Session: Shanghai Futures Exchange” at FIA IDX 2023. During the session, SHFE made a general introduction of China’s futures market, and invited market entities such as Nanhua Financial (UK) Co., Ltd, BOCI, JP Morgan Futures and HSBC for a panel discussion on topics that most interest overseas investors, including China market access, overseas participation, future prospects, etc. This session attracted nearly a hundred participants from different countries and regions covering various sectors. The guest speakers believed that with the further opening up of China's futures market, China's futures market will become the focus of attention of global investors.

SHFE brought various kinds of English investor education and marketing materials to the exhibition, including the widely popular product brochures, market development reports (the “Whitepaper”), 50 Q&As/100 Q&As, etc. It also had extensive communication with IDX participants, introduced China’s futures market, and responded to enquiries of interested market participants.
